Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Mother’s Day is around the corner, and I’ve got everything you need to make mama happy!  My first rule for Mother’s Day is to treat Mom like the queen that she is, and my second rule is to NEVER, I repeat NEVER buy her an appliance of ANY KIND (even if she says she wants one).

Getting an appliance for Mother’s Day, is like getting a toothbrush on Halloween…

Here are some of my favorite gifts for Mother’s Day 2015:

1. Mug + Joe – give mom an inspirational mug and a gift certificate to her favorite coffee shop.

2. Club W – if mom is a wine lover, sign her up for a monthly vino club!

3. Spa at Home – the clarisonic mia is always on my must HAVE list – pamper mom at home!

4. Personal Stylist – give mom a new wardrobe – carefully curated and sent right to her door!

5. Handbag – you cannot go wrong with a new bag for mom, like the one that I want this year (hint, hint) 🙂

6. Bling – you also can’t go wrong with some new jewels – I love these handmade stacking bracelets.

Dreamland Fairy

Once upon a time, a fairy ran out of stories to tell in fairyland and relied on all of the little boys and girls to share their wishes, dreams, and stories to help her.  This is where your child (and the dreamland fairy kit) comes in.

Keep dreams, wishes, and stories alive with the Dreamland Fairy!  Paint your fairy’s adorable little house, read the beautifully illustrated book, and leave notes, pictures, and stories in the house for your fairy to take and bring back to fairyland!

This adorable kit is $24.99 and you can check it out here: Dreamland Fairy Kit

Vegan Peanut Butter Cookies

Let’s be honest, typically when something is labeled “Vegan,” most people are turned off. These cookies, however, are the exception!

I am not Vegan, but I am a cookie fan – especially when there is chocolate and peanut butter involved! 🙂 My son asked me to make cookies this weekend, and I remembered I had made these delicious treats a few months ago!  Not only are they yummy, they are super easy to make!

Here is the recipe (originally from Chocolate Covered Kate – an awesome dessert blog with healthy recipes)!

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter, or almond or sunbutter
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 3 tbsp flour (whole-wheat pastry, all-purpose white, spelt, Bob’s gf mix all work)
  • 1/4 cup sugar or evaporated cane juice
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar or coconut sugar
  • 2 tbsp applesauce
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • optional: tiny pinch salt (around 1/16 tsp) (Taste dough to decide – I like to add it.)
  • optional: chocolate chips

Mix dry ingredients very well. Then add wet and form cookie balls. If you want soft cookies, fridge the dough for at least an hour. Then bake in a preheated oven (350F) for 8 minutes. They’ll look underdone when you take them out, but that’s ok. Let cool for at least 5 minutes before removing from tray.

To keep these cookies soft, store leftover cookies in a plastic container. This recipe will make about 12-16 cookies, depending on how big you roll them. (For 16 cookies, they’ll have 65 calories per cookie.)

Mexican Giftspiration

We just spent the last week in Cancun – aka – paradise (see pic above)!  Needless to say, I am a bit depressed to be back, so what better way to cure depression then with SHOPPING! 🙂

While in Mexico, we hit up a few of the local pottery stores to purchase souvenirs, gifts for the kids, etc.  I ended up with two little bowls for myself (second row-second pic from the left).  Now that we are home, I really regret not getting more!

Hand painted Mexican pottery is called Talavera , and the colors and patterns are GORGEOUS!

I did some digging, and there are a few good sites to buy Talavera (without the cost of a trip to Mexico).

Here are a few of my favorites:
